Mukono Diocese is a Faith Based Organization and an integral part of the Province of the Church of Uganda Anglican. Its Secretariat is located in the heart of Mukono Municipality 18 km from Kampala on the Kampala-Jinja Road. The Diocese was established on 2nd December 1984. It was curved out of the greater Namirembe Diocese. At present, it covers the Political Districts – Kayunga, Mukono, Buikwe and Buvuma Islands. It is comprised of the 12 Archdeaconries. 74 Parishes, 726 Churches, 142 Clergy in active service these include those in parishes, schools and other Church Institutions and one Presiding Bishop, The Rt. Rev. Enos Kitto Kagodo. The Diocese has a population density of 1,029,400 people and about 400,000 Christians of the Anglican faith (National Census Report – 2014). The Diocese has a wealth of over 2,000 Hectares of land.
- The first Bishop of Mukono was Dr Living Stone Mpalanyi Nkoyooyo -1984 -1977 (RIP)
- The Second Bishop was Micheal Ssenyimba -1997-2002 (RIP)
- The third Bishop is Elia Paul Luzinda Kizito 2002-2010
- The forth Bishop is James William Ssebaggala – 2010-2022
- The fifth and current Bishop is Rt. Rev. Enos Kitto Kagodo

THE DIOCESAN COUNCIL
The Diocesan Council is an Executive Committee appointed by the Diocesan Synod to act on its behalf between the periods of its sitting.
The Diocesan Council examines Policy Proposals for submission to the Diocesan Synod and Implements the Decisions of the Diocesan Synod.

THE HEAD QUARTERS
The Headquarters of Mukono Diocese is located at Mukono Hill after Bishop’s S.S. The building accommodates the Administrative and Management Offices of the Diocese: Bishop’s Office, Diocesan Secretary and Treasury. Departments: Mission, Estates, Education, Planning and Development, Internal Auditor, Children’s Ministry. THE OFFICE OF DIOCESAN SECRETARY
The Diocesan Secretariat is the Administrative and Co-ordinating Unit of the Diocese. Its operations are managed by the Diocesan Secretary assisted by Heads of Departments and Units.
The Office of the Diocesan Secretary has the following mandate; Ensures implementation of the Diocesan Synod and Council resolutions; effective Communication of information between the Diocese and Provincial Secretariat; link between the Diocese and the Parishes; build capacity of Parish Staff and Ministry teams; Design Institutional frameworks; Managing and Co-ordinating all recruitment and selection activities in the Diocese.
