Dear Brethren in Christ,
I greet you all in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Allow me on behalf of my wife, Canons and entire house of Clergy of mukono Diocese welcome you to the Mukono Diocese website, one of the diocesan communication avenues aimed at spreading the word of God ( Mat. 28:19).
First of all, I want to thank God for choosing us as the 5th Bishop of Mukono Diocese, I thank you all for the prayers and organization for the consecration. In a special way allow me thank my predecessor, the Rt. Rev. James William Ssebaggala and Mama Tezira, for their 12 year service and mentorship. I cannot forget to mention Bishop Emeritus the late Dr. Livingstone Mpalanyi Nkoyoyo, the Rt. Rev. Prof. Michael Ssenyimba and Rt. Rev. Elia Paul Luzinda Kizito, for their countless contribution to this diocese, (2 Chr. 15:7).
When God told Joshua to get ready with the Israelites to cross the Jordan river into the land He was about to give them after the death of Moses (Joshua 1:2-5), it looked a big assignment before them but God promised to be with him the way he was with Moses and never to forsake him (Joshua 1:5), and with this assurance from God, me and my wife Catherine, we are ready for the responsibility we were called for. When I was in Arusha some years back, I often used to read a lot about Paul’s letters to Timothy and Joshua, these books shaped me in the ministry. Therefore, we have to get ready to cross the River together amidst challenges such grabbing of church land, poverty, class poverty, laziness, witchcraft especially in villages among others. The Lord is however promising us that after crossing the Jordan River, we are going to land into the Promised Land. That is my goal and it’s my prayer that it becomes your goal too.
Mukono Diocese is one of the fast growing Dioceses in the province of the Church of Uganda. The development projects for the sustainability of the diocese. My vision is to ensure that such projects and more continue for the success of the diocese.
We read about our Lord Jesus Christ in the Bible and other historical religious books and we see him as a man of team work, who worked with 12 Disciples from whom he got the Apostles. Surprisingly he chose only 3 that is James, John and Simon Peter to be part of his inner circle. From his inner circle, Jesus chose Peter to be the rock on to which his lambs may graze. I believe in synergy and any person who has a positive mindset with that, we are good to go.
I have written a book which summarizes all my dreams for the time God has called us to serve in this diocese as the Bishop, copies will be availed to you in respective parishes and churches. I want to encourage you to read this book in order to bring everyone on board in order to realize our dream. I believe that every person has a role to play in the ministry of this diocese.
In conclusion, I want to encourage you to interest yourselves in following this platform and other forms of communication established by the diocese for spreading the gospel. I call upon for your moral, spiritual, physical and financial support from of you to enable our diocese thrive. However, take note that what we want to achieve will only be achieved when we are united. Unity is the only way to go and as the saying goes, “United we stand, Divided we fall” Together every one achieves more. We are intricate parts that fit together to form this body-Mukono Diocese. Let’s join our hands, hearts and feet for our diocese. That’s why, for this tenure, our motto and driving wheel is: Ministry by All (MIBA). Everyone in this ministry matters and has a role to play. We have less time to disagree before we agree.
I therefore call for your moral, spiritual, physical and financial support from all of you people of God and other well-wishers to come and support the diocesan Ministry as we have a lot to do out there but the resources to do that are limited (Luke 10:2) to reach out and restore hope among those who have lost hope (Matt 10:8).
Allow me remind you the theme of the year as a diocese “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth” (2 Tim. 2:15).
MAY GOD BLESS YOU.
THE RT REV ENOS KITTO KAGODO
BISHOP OF MUKONO DIOCESE
