Mukono Diocese Savings Credit and Cooperative Society project is a savings scheme established by Mukono Diocese as one of the economic empowerment program for its members; to help give out small loans to members who would otherwise suffer problems of surety and loss of property associated with other loaning agents. Its serves as a poverty alleviation program as well as a financial base for the diocese. Having started on 1st January 2013 with 30 priests who bought shares of 20,000ugs to start the savings, the scheme that started with zero income and also depended on membership fees from whoever wished to join is now worth a billion shillings and over 3000 members. All salaries for diocesan staff, diocesan schools go through this SACCO. At the moment, it has two branches in Lugazi and Kangulumira . It is the prayer of the diocese to turn this SACCO into an independent bank.
